Top Up TV launched in March 2004 offering 11 channels (including UKTV Gold, Discovery Channel & Cartoon Network) to Freeview customers for £9.99 per month with no annual contract.
In October 2006 Top Up TV launched Top Up TV Anytime, which offers Freeview customers over 100 programmes from a wider range of channels to view at any time, for £9.99 per month with no annual contract.
To receive the service, customers need a Top Up TV Anytime Digital Television Recorder (DTR, also known as PVR). Customers can watch Freeview channels normally as well as accessing a library of programmes from new channels such as MTV. Top Up TV programming also works as a ‘Digital TV Recorder’ (DTR), which provides the latest digital features, like being able to pause & rewind programmes and the ability to record 2 programmes at once.
