Teen Mom

Teen Mom

Sunday 7 March at 8pm on MTV

In the follow-up to the MTV series, 16 and Pregnant, Teen Mom is a fascinating insight into the challenges teenagers Farrah, Maci, Amber and Catelynn, face in their first year of motherhood. They are each trying to juggle raising a new baby with various everyday teenage responsibilities, including graduating from high school, relationships, getting jobs, beginning college and setting out on their own.

Catelynn is a smart and funny high school senior, who spent her junior year pregnant with her daughter, Carly. Catelynn and her boyfriend, Tyler, chose adoption even though their parents disapproved and now they are trying to return to normal teenage life, but it’s a lot easier said than done. Maci is a classic teenage overachiever; popular, athletic and successful in school. She had big plans to go away to college but that all changed when she fell pregnant with her son, Bentley. Now everything has changed and Maci has to wave all her friends off to college and begin to plan her wedding to Bentley’s dad, Ryan.

Farrah meanwhile, is a high school cheerleader turned single mom. She lives with her mother, who helps with childcare but also nags her constantly about how to take care of baby Sophia. All Farrah wants is a normal teenage life and to carry on dating boys, but she soon finds out that being a single mom doesn’t make that easy. Amber is the party girl of the group. She dropped out of high school and grew up fast when she fell pregnant with her daughter, Leah. Her fiancé Gary works 12 hour days to support the family, while Amber is left at home with Leah. Although she’s desperate to get out with her friends she doesn’t have the time or energy to do so and tension is mounting at home.

For each of these new moms it seems putting your teenage dreams on hold to do what is best for your child is tough and we follow them as they battle with themselves and their families as they try to do the right thing.
