David Lynn Appointed Chairman of SCBG

London – September 4th 2007 – David Lynn, Executive Vice President & Managing Director, MTV Networks UK & Ireland, has been appointed Chairman of the Satellite & Cable Broadcasters’ Group (SCGB) following the retirement of the previous Chairman, John Hambley. The appointment is effective immediately.

Petra Wikstrom, Executive Director of SCBG said; “We are very pleased to have David Lynn as our new Chairman. His experience and knowledge of the satellite and cable sector will add considerable value to the organisation. MTV Networks is a perfect example of an international company that contributes enormously to the UK broadcasting market and therefore underpins one of our key messages which is that the regulatory environment must reflect our distinctive business needs and not apply a “one size fits all” approach.”

David Lynn commented: “I am honoured to succeed John Hambley. Under his leadership the SCBG has become a force to be reckoned in promoting the significant contribution that this its members make to the creative industries in the UK.

“At a time when the UK’s digital evolution is leading to greater proposed regulatory scrutiny, it is vital that the SCBG continues to be a constant and powerful voice protecting the interests of the cable and satellite sector.”
