VH1 celebrates the hotly anticipated Spice Girls reunion tour with a hunt for the UK’s ultimate wannabes. This brand new series follows a panel of no-nonsense judges, including ultimate wannabe Chanelle Hayes, as they scour the country for women over 25 still yearning for fame, fortune.... and a footballer husband.
The original pioneers of ‘Girl Power’ inspired a whole generation of women to embrace ambition, assertiveness and individualism – they were a social phenomenon that changed the course of popular culture and music. Now that they are back, reunited and ready to spice the world up for a second time, VH1 is celebrating this by offering women their generation one last shot at stardom in a brand new girl band.
The series opens with the first round of auditions presided over by a panel of music and celebrity experts including; music industry impresario, Roseann McBride, Chanelle Hayes, vocal expert David Laudat and Kenny Ho, the celebrity stylist. The eagle-eyed judges spot some potential amongst the inevitable comical and deluded characters and whittle down the hopefuls into a lucky few who will progress to the next stage. Each girl selected hopes to make it through the gruelling rehearsals and ‘celeb’ tasks set by Chanelle to secure their place in the final girl band line-up.
The series will climax with the final Wannabes’ nerve-wracking (and hopefully show-stopping!) live performance at a top London venue.
