MTV's Greatest Album Ever: The Results

Results simulcast on Saturday 11 April at 9pm across all major MTV channels (excluding TMF)

Last year Duran Duran’s Rio was crowned MTV’s Greatest Video Ever by viewers. In February, MTV launched its campaign to find MTV’s Greatest Album Ever as voted for by music fans across the UK and now it’s time to reveal the results.

Music industry experts and stars joined forces with Edith Bowman on VH1, Zane Lowe on MTV Two and Trevor Nelson on MTV Base to compile each channel’s top 10 albums. These were put forward to the shortlist for the public vote. So who deserves to be crowned MTV’s Greatest Album Ever?

Michael Jackson’s multi-million selling album Thriller, Radiohead’s seminal album OK Computer, lyrical masterpiece The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths, and Nirvana’s legendary rock album Nevermind have all received double nominations making a grand total of 26 albums for the public vote. Thriller was voted No.1 in both MTV Base and VH1’s top ten list.

But who will come out on top? Oasis have two albums deemed worthy of the public vote, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory and Definitely Maybe. Prince, U2, REM, Jay Z, Guns ‘n’ Roses and The Stone Roses were amongst the big names nominated.

Surprise inclusions in the top 26 albums include Craig David, Dizzee Rascal, Human League and Arctic Monkeys. Amy Winehouse is also the only UK female to receive a nomination for her celebrated album Back to Black.

The fans have been voting online in their thousands, hoping their favourite band or artist comes out on top. Join Edith, Trevor and Zane as they count down to the winning album and reveal which classic album has been voted as MTV’s Greatest Album Ever.
