Al Gore Tells MTV Viewers - George Bush Responsible For Censoring Reports on Climate Crisis

Al Gore's Global Warning

Only on MTV UK

London, 5th July 2007: During his visit to the UK this week, Al Gore made time to talk to MTV viewers in an interview with Trevor Nelson. During the thirty minute interview, Gore and Nelson covered a range of topics concerning climate change and how MTV’s UK audience can make a real difference to ensure that the planet has a future.

During the interview Gore was critical of George Bush’s commitment to climate change. Nelson asked “Is George Bush playng down the effects of climate change to protect American big business?”

Gore replied: "I think that is actually the case. He comes out of the oil industry. He put somebody in the White House that was put in charge of censoring, literally censoring, reports that were intended to warn us about the climate crisis.

“It's probably unrealistic that he'll change very much in the year and a half he has left in the White House. But I do think it’s very likely that the next president, regardless of which party they may come from, is going to be someone much more committed to solving this crisis. So I'm spending my time trying to change as many minds as possible so that in January 2009 we can hit the ground running, not only in the U.S. but in the UK and worldwide so we can get our act together and solve this crisis."

In June this year MTV Networks launched MTV Switch – the first youth focused multi-platform climate change campaign to encourage 15-25 year old to make small changes in the way they live so as to reduce carbon emission.
