David Lynn - Executive Vice President and Managing Director, MTV Networks UK & Ireland and Austraila and New Zealand

David Lynn is the Executive Vice President and Managing Director, MTV Networks UK & Ireland and Australia and New Zealand. Lynn is responsible for all of MTV Networks UK & Ireland operations, including 20 TV channels, 19 online properties and 4 mobile TV channels, spanning its MTV, VH1, and VIVA brands in the UK. In addition, he oversees MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and TMF in Australia and New Zealand. Lynn is also responsible for MTV Networks UK & Ireland interests in joint venture businesses with BSkyB, notably Nickelodeon UK and Comedy Central.

Appointed in March 2007, Lynn reports into MTV Networks International President Bob Bakish.

Since taking on the role of MD for the organization’s UK business, Lynn has managed and overseen the launch of general entertainment channel Viva on the Freeview platform, helping steer the channel to become the region’s most successful launch. In addition he is responsible for the sale of Viacom Brand Solutions to Sky Media in 2009, the rebrand of Comedy Central in the UK and under his leadership the UK region continues to be a valuable asset for MTV Networks International.

Prior to this position Lynn was Senior Vice President, Managing Director, for Nickelodeon UK, the top-rated children’s network in the UK. During his time at Nickelodeon UK, Lynn strengthened the network’s #1 UK market position in one of the UK’s most competitive broadcast markets.

In addition he instigated Nicktrition, Nickelodeon’s groundbreaking healthy eating campaign for young children, and steered the company through its HFSS negotiations with Ofcom. He also launched Nick Jr as well the brand’s first broadband channels in the UK, Turbonick and Nick Jr Video, kickstarting its digital strategy. The brands achievements under his leadership were recognised in 2006 when Nickelodeon UK was awarded Channel of the Year at the Children’s Baftas.

Lynn is also the Chairman of the Satellite and Cable Broadcasters Group (SCBG), representing multi-channel interests in the UK broadcasting industry.
