Betty Boo’s 100 90s Pop Anthems
Sunday 14 June from 12pm on VH1
In Betty Boo’s 100 90s Pop Anthems VH1 takes a trip back to a time when Cool Britannia was in full swing, rave was massive and Girl Power ruled the world. Pop songstress Betty Boo, ushered in the decade with her top-ten hit Doin’ The Do and talks through 10 blinding hours of great pop anthems of the 90s.
Betty Boo takes a look at the iconic tracks that made Britain the centre of pop culture for the best part of a decade and made superstars of the bands themselves. ‘Wannabe’ took The Spice Girls global, and created a whole new phenomenon in Girl Power.
Meanwhile, the boys didn’t rest on their laurels as Take That and East 17 caused hysteria amongst girls across the nation. Not forgetting that before she found her ‘Doctor’, Billie Piper became the youngest woman to reach number one with her hit ‘Because We Want To’.
The global music scene was also producing some classic pop anthems – from Britney Spears to Prince, the 90s was a vintage time for music.
So sit back as VH1 looks back at all of the retro classics that made the 90s a decade to never forget.
