MTV brings one of the most controversial and thought-provoking topics to viewers with a new six part series, 16 and Pregnant.
16 and Pregnant takes an intimate look inside the lives of pregnant teenagers as they face the challenges that come with being a young parent and dealing with relationships, finance, school and new responsibilities.
Statistics show that three out of ten girls in America will get pregnant before the age of 20, and each year 700,000 teenage girls become pregnant. The majority of these pregnancies are unintended, and despite the availability of sex education and access to contraception, America has the highest rate of teen pregnancy and teen birth in the developed world.
16 and Pregnant will follow the lives of teenage girls for five to seven months as they navigate the unfamiliar territory of being pregnant. MTV have caught every moment and reaction in real time, including some of the births. The series tackles a wide range of issues that arise when becoming a teenage parent including marriage, adoption and dealing with gossip.
This eye opening and ground-breaking series is not to be missed.
